Hippo Returns

Hippo (Book 3) in a series of books that my Dad has written is available now in paperback and digital. I've helped design the cover from a photo my Dad took in Dinard, France of the Alfred Hitchcock statue. Ray Hippolyte is for me a very interesting character, a journalist who solves crimes. A kinda geeky James Bond mixed with Columbo character who's delightfully English but loves France and all things French. My Dad never intended to write a series but I think this one gets better and better with each book.

Let Me Be

Recently I designed this cover for my Dads collection of short stories Let Me Be. Here's a description of the book sold on Amazon...

By a cruel twist of fate a cycling accident leaves novelist Stanley Stanhope in a coma just like the main character in his latest book. But the phenomenon of life imitating art ends there. For though Stanley cannot move and has his eyes closed, he hears and sees everything that is going on around him. One night he witnesses two men planning a murder.

It's ChuckleTime!!!

ChuckleTime Titles from BenJamin Wigmore on Vimeo.
ChuckleTime is a clip show on Channel5 featuring English comedy legends Paul & Barry Chuckle. Various funny clips are mixed in with classic Chuckle Brothers humour. GeeFX Studios Creative Director Graham Clarkin tasked me with making some appropriate wacky titles with a cartoonish/Monty Pyhton feel.

Produced by So Television for Channel 5

Uploaded with kind permission of GeeFX Studios/ SoTV

Addition: I was very sad to hear of the passing of Barry Chuckle on August 5th 2018. The Chuckle Brothers were the first comedy duo I ever saw on TV and they had a great influence on me. They had perfect comedy timing and ChuckleVision was a big favourite of mine when I was younger. I'm thankful that they gave me this brilliant introduction to comedy at such a young age.

Time Crashers

Logo work for Channel 4 production of Time Crashers. We ended up building it in more of a steampunk vibe but I like the classic design look inspired by clocks, watches and spirographs.

GeeFX Studios - Showreel 2017 from GeeFX® Studios on Vimeo.

I've been working for GeeFX for the last 6 years as a Motion Graphics Animator. Managing Director Graham Clarkin, known in the TV graphics business as Gee, is the nicest, most genuine guy working in telly-land. Here's a selection of our favourite projects over the last 3 years.

TiMESLiCE Films

Since November last year I've been working for TimeSlice Films creating graphics and animation for tv shows (Graham Norton Show, Dancing On Ice & various pilots for Sky and SO TV) and editing TimeSlice shots (Rip Curl, So You Think You Can Dance and BBC Good Chef). The most rewarding part is when your animations get on TV... :)

Evil Genius Family Portrait

Work on my new cartoon "Evil Genius" continues although I'm still a while from the end. I'm 24 (or 0:00:24:01) seconds into the third act and it has been constant layout and then execution of the animation which is why it was nice to spend an hour drawing this family portrait.

The Boat that Rocked

Redberry designed this site for the new Richard Curtis movie called The Boat That Rocked produced by Working Title. It's a family comedy about pirate radio stations in the 1960's. My biggest contribution was the Dancing Buddies available on download via the AIR app. The app will allow the characters to literally dance on your desktop to music from the movie.

Using the illustrations by Kate I first saved out all the pngs in photoshop then pulled them into flash. I then built the rig for the character and and created the animations of them dancing. After that I took the swfs into after effects and exported movie files for Liam (code monkey genius) to code into the AIR app. The whole thing took about 4 weeks to do and it was really cool to be animating for Working Title and Universal Pictures.

Redberry showcase

The directors at Redberry asked me to edit together clips to make a showreel when pitching to clients. With help from Dan (our talented designer) we created the Redberry Showreel using screen capture and after fx.

Monkeys, Apes, Robots and Branding

Below are some examples of work I produced to help promote Redberry. Some of these animations where used at new media shows, client presentations and as screensavers. It helps to break the ice at a meeting if a naked monkey on a moped drives across your laptop screen now and again!
